China Facial Recognition Technology, Which Scans Country Population in 1 Seconds

China Facial Recognition Technology

Harold Finch, a fictional character from the tv series ‘Person Of Interest’, “Northern Lights” project just became a reality thanks to the Chinese.

The Chinese has developed the next Gen Technology surveillance system, and now SIXTEEN regions across China has implemented this facial recognition technology.

C

hina’s facial recognition technology, which they have recently implemented, has the ability to scan the Chinese population, which is approximately 1.4 Billion people, in just ONE second, and supposedly the world population in almost TWO seconds!

This facial recognition system has finally come to fruition, which has been the main object for the ‘Skynet Project’ that was launched back in 2005.

Skynet is China’s countrywide monitoring program’s main objective is  to boost the country’s surveillance program by the increasing the usage of cameras. 2,000 persons have been arrested in the last two years with the help of their facial recognition technology.

With the new implementation of China’s super fast surveillance system, the police has the ability to predict crimes, find missing persons and even track suspicious targets every movement in just seconds.

At this present moment in time, China has approximately 170 Million surveillance cameras. Based on recent intel, they are looking forward to install an additional 400 million cameras by the year 2020, which will then equal to 570 million cameras. It is probably safe to say that they would have one camera for every two citizens in the country.

The Development  team of China Facial Recognition System claimed that the system has a 99.8 % accuracy rate and it will work well irrespective of lighting condition or angle.

In the last year, China has applied for five times more  AI (Artificial Intelligent) patents licences than the US. So apparently the Chinese have managed to acquire more investments in the International AI platform.
